LEILANI READ
On the 27 June Executive Members, Past Players and Coaches from the Club joined with Dave and Loloma Read at the launch of the Mezzainine Gallery, Te Rauparaha Arena. The unveiling of the late Leilani Read's photo was displayed to honour and celebrate her achievements as the only person from Porirua to represent the Silver Ferns. Waimarama Taumaunu (Club Coach) made a moving speech remembering the natural talent, skill and bubbly personality of Leilani, she also paid tribute to a much loved Club member. Leilani was a dual international who represented both New Zealand and Samoa. Sadly, she passed away in 1999 at the tender age of 25, however she is never forgotten.
