P.I.C Netball Club

Register for Trials

Here are some frequently asked questions about registering and trialling for our club.

How many teams do you have?

We have two Premier 1 teams playing in the top club grade, two Premier 2 teams competing in the second‑highest grade, and one Premier 3 team that is self‑selected, playing in the third grade of the Netball Wellington Centre Saturday competition.

See P.I.C Netball Club - Our Teams for more information.

When are trials?

P.I.C Netball club trials typically run for two hours over two days during a week at the end of March or beginning of April, depending on the Netball Wellington Centre Season dates. Trials are held at Akau Tangi in Kilbirnie.  We will publish the confirmed trial dates on our website and social media in December.

Do I need to register?

Yes. Before attending trials, you'll need to complete a registration form. The information you provide helps us form trial teams based on your first, second and third preferred positions.

What can I expect at trials?

After checking in and receiving a club welcome, players will warm up together.  You'll then play 10-minute quarters in your trial team. Expect to play at least two quarters each trial day - sometimes more, depending on the number of trialists present on the day.

Who selects the teams?

Teams are selected by a panel made up of P.I.C coaching staff and the Club Executive.  Final team decisions are made by the Club Coach. Teams are posted on the P.I.C website shortly after the final trial.

What should I do to prepare for trials?

Great question. To help prevent injuries, players are encouraged to begin physical conditioning 4 - 6 weeks before trials.  Focus on strength, stability and cardio. We also recommend practising safe movement and landing techniques. Wearing netball-specific shoes with good grip and support is essential. For more guidance, visit the Netball Smart website.
